Join Mosaic This January for Fun Events!

Enjoy Mosaic’s new events like the Healthy Living Now and The Joy of the Opera series and returning favourites like the Pole Walking Club and the First Link Memory® Café at Mosaic.

Mosaic Open House (Markham) – Thursday, January 12th, 2017.

Have you been to our Community Resource Centre yet? Come visit us on January 12th for our Open House to take a look at all of resources and learn about our upcoming programs. Drop in for refreshments and chat with Mosaic staff about our services, our programs and all that we offer the community. We will also have members of Evergreen at our Open House who will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about our upcoming joint program, the “Healthy Living Now Series”.

The Joy of the Opera (Markham) – Friday, January 13th, 20th and 27th, 2017.

This 3-part series explores the increasingly popular art form of the Opera. Mosaic is excited to have opera aficionado Marcel Deuvorst present the History of Opera with biographies on three composers featuring live performances of their most popular works on DVD. Marcel has spent a lifetime studying, listening and attending live performances and has taught opera and classical music appreciation courses at the LIFE Institute at Ryerson University for the last 10 years.

Mosaic Indoor Winter Pole Walking Club (Markham) – Friday, January 20th, 2017.

Our Pole Walking Club returns this January! Stay in shape this winter with Mosaic by joining us for our monthly indoor pole walk. Mosaic staff will lead the walk from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with refreshments provided after the walk. Learn about the benefits of pole walking and test out the poles for yourself! The Pole Walking Club continues throughout the year on the 3rd Friday of the month.

The Joy of the Opera (Toronto/CNIB Center) – Wednesday, January 25th, 2017.

Marcel Deuvorst brings his “Joy of the Opera” series to the community at our Toronto Office for a day. Learn about the classical composer Mozart and listen to selected works from one of the most famous classical composers with Marcel.

Blood Pressure and Informational Clinic (Markham) – Thursday, January 26th, 2017.

Mosaic will be hosting a free blood pressure and informational clinic for the community at our Community Resource on Thursday, January 26th. Sit down with one of our Mosaic nurses who will take your blood pressure, answer any questions you have, and give you a blood pressure booklet to keep a record of your results. You are also welcome to come into our Community Resource Centre to look through our resources and enjoy a cup of tea!

Healthy Living Now Series (Markham) – 6 Weeks, Starting Thursday, January 26th, 2017.

This program runs on Thursdays: January 26th, February 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and March 2nd.

March 9th is a rain-date in case of a cancellation.

Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Join Mosaic and Evergreen for a FREE six week workshop to help people overcome emotional and physical distress caused by chronic conditions. This program will help people reduce stress from things like: pain, anxiety and depression, poor quality sleep, juggling nutrition and exercise and dealing with your healthcare team. This program runs from January 26th to March 2nd.

First Link® Memory Café at Mosaic (Markham) – Tuesday, January 31st, 2017. clip_image011

Our First Link® Memory Café returns this January for another year! Mosaic welcomes the Alzheimer Society of York Region and the community for an afternoon of socializing and sharing stories. If you are interested in memory related issues, dementia or Alzheimer’s you can speak to a representative from the Alzheimer Society of York Region over a cup of tea. Our memory café is designed to get people active: because being active physically, socially and mentally is good for our brains!
